This photovoice project takes place in Miami, Florida, with Haitian immigrant and Haitian American women participating in diasporic humanitarian community organizations. In collaboration with Sant La and FANM, participants explore the meanings of the Poto Mitan and dyaspora figures through photography, storytelling, and collective dialogue. Through their images and reflections, women document experiences of memory, migration, leadership, care, and resistance. The project centers Haitian women’s visual narratives as forms of knowledge production and empowerment. It contributes to visual anthropology by expanding representations of Haitian womanhood and diasporic community life.
